Background:

Inspired by the Flint, Michigan Water Crisis while she was in high school, Melanie began to research local water issues in her home state of Alabama. As an Environmental Engineering student at the University of Alabama, she became involved the Alabama Water Environment Association and the Water Environment Federation (WEF). She eventually launched a WEF Student Chapter at the University, introducing students to careers in the water sector.

Current Position:

Today Melanie works at Central Alabama Water as a Research Engineer.
